Message from the President, Myra McKelvey

I want to congratulate both Renee Dietz and Mary Ann Muccio for their fine performance in the Championship at Rawiga last week.  I think I can say that we all enjoyed following your second round on Friday and saw some great golf!

Thanks to all who came and played – I hope you enjoyed your matches and your time at Rawiga.  For those who were not there – I hope you will consider playing next year at Quail Hollow.  It truly is a great experience and great fun – whether you’re in the first flight or the last.

I want to thank all the women of Rawiga for their support – they were great – and a special thank you to Carolyn Hyne, my co-chair for this event.  Couldn’t have done it without you, Carolyn!

GCGA Championships at Rawiga
Hot, humid weather heralded the start of the 2010 Greater Cleveland Golf Association Championships at Rawiga Country Club and it remained so for the three days of the matches. Forty GCGA members participated in the matches which were held with a great spirit of friendship and camaraderie.

The tournament was organized with great efficiency by the members of Rawiga led by GCGA President, Myra McKelvey; all who participated would like to thank them and the Professional and Catering Staff at Rawiga for making it such an enjoyable experience.  Special thanks also to Myra for opening her home to the players on Thursday afternoon so that we were able to gather and expand our friendships.

The final matches took place on Friday with Renee Dietz of Fox Meadow and Mary Ann Muccio of Walden vying for the coveted title of Champion for 2010. These two terrific ladies made it a fun and entertaining event for the whole field of players who turned out to watch their match. The eventual winner was Renee Dietz who was last year's runner up. The winners of all the flights can be found on the tournament winners page.
